Diagnosis | Diagnosis (Arenicolascincus): “A genus of small semi-fossorial Scincid lizards closely allied to Hemiergis and readily distinguished by the following combination of characters: Limbs pentadactyl; ear depression deep; nasals separated; prefrontals only narrowly separated; nuchals usually 2; supraciliaries 6-7; supralabials 7 (the 5th sub-ocular); sub-digital lamellae under 4th toe 13-16.” (Wells and Wellington 1985: 23) |
Comment | Type species: Hemiergis millewae COVENTRY 1976 is the type species of the genus Arenicolascincus WELLS & WELLINGTON 1985. The description and diagnosis of A. lami only refers to “Storr et al. (1981:124, Plate 2.8)” without further details. Limb morphology: 5 digits, 5 toes (Singhal et al. 2018, Reeder and Reichert 2011) |
