Type locality: Lake Matanna, South-eastern Celebes  
Reproductionovovivparous 
TypesHolotype: NMBA 1735, a 240 mm male (P. Sarasin and F. Sarasin, 1893-1896). 
DiagnosisDIAGNOSIS: Scale at mid-body in 21 rows; single postocular; and divided internasal separate it from its congener, H. plumbea (n = 1; Murphy & Voris 2014: 26)
