EtymologyNamed after Professor Dr. Franz Josef Maria Werner (1867-1939), an Austrian explorer, zoologist, and herpetologist who worked at Naturhistorisches Museum Wien. See Antonius 1939 and Westersheim 1940 for biographical notes.
