DistributionNicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama (Caribbean lowlands from the Rio San Juan southward to Bocas del Toro Province in Panama)

Type locality: "Los Diamantes, Limon Province, Costa Rica".

Habitat: freshwater (swamps, quiet rivers) 
EtymologyNamed after angust (Latin) = narrow, and pons (Latin) = a brigde: “a narrow bridge”. The species having a narrow bridge, 20% or less of length of carapace (Legler 1965).
