DistributionSE USA (coastal Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, along the Atlantic Coastal Plain of Georgia southward through peninsular Florida and the Keys)

Type locality: "Key West," Monroe Co., Florida, U.S.A.  
Reproductionoviparous. Exhibits temperature‐dependent sex determination (TSD) fide Cornejo-Páramo et al. 2020 (and references therein).

EtymologyNamed after Georg Herman Carl Ludwig Baur (1859-1898), German biologist, who also worked at Yale (1884-1890) and other places in the United States.
