EtymologyNamed after Gr.: xenos, strange; rhis (> rhinos), nose; -us/a/um, adjectival ending: strange-nosed, denoting the truly extraordinary spatulate nasal appendage in male specimens of this species (Charles Klaver, pers. comm., 11 Jan 2023).
