Comment | Subspecies: With the reallocation of Leiocephalus altavelensis (Noble & Hassler 1933) to L. barahonensis, and the recognition of L. endomychus (Schwartz 1967) as a distinct species, L. vinculum is restricted to the monotypic population on Ile de la Gonave. Etymology | Named after Latin vincio, vinctus = bind, vinculum = anything used for binding, presumably an allusion to the strap-like scale separating the prefrontals from the canthals. The etymology was not explained by Cochran though. |
