EtymologyNamed after Prince Luigi Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Abruzzi (1873-1933), an Italian explorer, mostly in Africa, and Commander-in-Chief of the Italian navy (1915-1917). The name aloysiisabaudiae is just a fancy, Latinized way of saying Luigi of Sabaudia, which was one of the territories of the ancestors of the House of Savoy.
