Comment | Synonymy: Lygosoma (Siaphos) compressicauda is preoccupied by Lygosoma (Hinulia) compressicauda WERNER 1897. Siaphos dewittei is listed as a synonym of Lygosoma kilimensis by LOVERIDGE 1957: 216 and de Witte 1953 (see also Copeia 1934: 184). |
Etymology | Named after Dr. Gaston-François de Witte (1897-1980) who worked in the Belgian Congo (1933-1935 and 1946-1949), originally as a colonial administrator but also as a naturalist and collector for the Institut des Parcs Nationales Congo-Belge, Tervuren. |
