Comment | Type Species: Rhodona planiventralis Lucas and Frost, 1902 is the type species of the genus Goldneyia WELLS 2012: 229. WELLS 2012: 229 erected the genus for G. decora, maryani, planiventralis. Unfortunately WELLS did not provide a phylogenetic analysis of the genera into which he broke up Lerista, hence we leave the current genus Lerista intact for the time being. Behavior: both diurnal and nocturnal Limb morphology: 2 digits, 3 toes |
Etymology | Presumably named after the Latin planus (flat) plus venter (belly) plus the suffix -alis (having the condition of), in reference to the flattened ventral surface, extending laterally to form ventrolateral keels. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024) |
