Diagnosis
CommentSynonymy: Liolaemus hernani was synonymized with Liolaemus curicensis by PINCHEIRA-DONOSO & NÚÑEZ 2005, a decision that is supported by LOBO et al. 2010.

Etymology: L. hernani was named after “the father of Herman Núñez, one of the authors of the paper, who passed away the same day I collected the type specimen; the reason for this decision was that Herman Núñez, a very good friend of mine and colleague herpetologist was supposed to come to the field trip, and the last day before departing, his father was not feeling well and I had to convince him to stay behind, otherwise, he would have regretted it for the rest of his life; Mr. Hernan Núñez, his father, was born in San Antonio on August 8, 1914” (Sallaberry, pers. comm. cited in Pauwels & Wahlgren 2012).
