Type locality: Colchane 3,850 m elevation, Provincia de Iquique, Chile (19° 42’ S, 68° 53’ W).  
Reproductionovovivparous. 
TypesHolotype: MZUC 10931, male (Museo de Zoología de la Universidad de Concepción, Chile) 
Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: Liolaemus islugensis erguetae LAURENT 1995 has been elevated to species status.

Synonymy: PINCHEIRA-DONOSO & NUNEZ (2003) synonymized L. islugensis with L. pantherinus. Langstroth 2021 synonymized islugensis with L. schmidti. 
EtymologyNamed after Volcán Isluga, where this species is found.
