Distribution	Chile (Malleco Province, Araucanía), Argentina Type locality: Volcán Villarrica, Provincia Caautín, Chile, 1400 m elevation.
Reproduction	Viviparous.
Types	Holotype: ZSM 72/1931, female, collected by W. Hellmich, 27.01. 1931. Paratypes: ZSM 73/1931/1-2 (originally ZSM 73/ 1931/a-b), 1 female, 1 juvenile, same data as holotype.

Etymology	Named after the Araucanía region in Chile where this species was found.
