Type locality: Portezuelo Blanco, 26.5 km west of Famatina on road to Cueva de Perez, Sierra de Famatina, Departamento Famatina, La Rioja, Argentina (28° 54’ 30” S, 67° 41’ 30” W; 2800 m elevation).

Etymology | Named after Richard Tracy, Professor of Biology at the Univesity of Nevada, Reno. Belongs to the Liolaemus elongatus group (fide ESPINOZA et al. 2000). See entry of Liolaemus punmahuida for differential diagnosis. |
