Diagnosis 
CommentBelongs to the wiegmanni group of Liolaemus. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin occipitalis, pertaining to the back of the head or to occiput. (Boulenger, 1885, Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
