Holotype: MNHNC (given as Dept. Biol. Cel. y Gen. Univ. Chile) No. 0649. [aymararum] 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: PINCHEIRA-DONOSO & NUNEZ 2005 synonymized Liolaemus aymararum with L. jamesi which was confirmed by LOBO et al. 2010 (who nevertheless listed aymararum as valid species). The mtDNA sequence divergence between the taxa identified as L. aymararum and L. stolzmanni by Schulte & Moreno-Roark is approximately 4% (J. Schulte, cited in LANGSTROTH 2011).

Subspecies: Liolaemus jamesi pachecoi LAURENT 1995 has been elevated to full species status. 
EtymologyNamed after H. Berkeley James, esquire and collector for the British museum.
