CommentType species: Liophidium trilineatum BOULENGER 1896: 599 is the type species of the genus Liophidium BOULENGER 1896. 
EtymologyNamed after the three black longitudinal lines on the dorsal side.

The genus was named after the Greek prefix lio- meaning smooth + the Greek ophis, (ὄφις), a serpent, snake.
