Type locality: Hermannsburg Mission, upper Finke River, N. T., designated by Mertens (1967).

Diagnosis 
CommentHabitat: Obligate burrowing.

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-30%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin stria (a line or furrow), in reference to the colour pattern of narrow dorsal lines. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
