DiagnosisDiagnosis: Liotyphlops petersii is differentiated from other Liotyphlops in the following characteristics: (a) width of the rostral scale equivalent to half the width of the head, (b) rostral scale extending to the interocular level, (c) third supralabial scale contacting the ocular scale, (d) prefrontal scale not in contact with the lower nasal scale. (Linares-Vargas et al. 2021) 
CommentSynonymy: Liotyphlops petersii has been considered as a synonym of L. albirostris previously but was revalidated by Linares-Vargas et al. 2021.

EtymologyPresumably named after Wilhelm Peters (1815-1883), German herpetologist although Boulenger does not comment on the etymology.
