CommentType species: Cophoscincus infralineolatus Günther 1873 is the type species of the genus Haploscincus COPE 1892, a synonym of Lipinia, fide Shea 2021. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin infra, meaning below or beneath, and Latin linea for line or stripe and -lata (Latin) meaning broad and refers to the typical colour pattern of this species.
