Type locality: Indonesia, Kalimantan (Borneo), Bukit Soeharto Experimental Forest, 45 km SSW of Samarinda.

Diagnosis 
CommentSimilar species: Luperosaurus yasumai most closely resembles Luperosaurus joloensis and Luperosaurus palawanensis but is distinct from any other congeneric species in having fewer scansors on toe IV (seven) and a strongly depressed tail. The name is honoring Shigeki Yasuma, who “has made a great contribution to the progress of research and conservation of wildlife in Kalimantan”.

Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Shigeki Yasuma (b. 1944), a zoologist.
