CommentShaw’s description was based on a plate in Russell, Ind. Serp. (1796).

Synonymy: mainly based on Deepak et al. (2021). Note the confusing history of names of this species and Platyceps plinii. Lycodon osmanhilli has been considered as a subspecies or variant of Lycodon aulicus (see LANZA 1999 for discussion). Listed as synonym of L. aulicus by WALLACH et al. 2014: 391. Ganesh & Vogel 2018 have resurrected L. anamallensis and synonymized L. osmanhilli with it. However, Deepak et al. 2021 again synonymized anamallensis (including osmanhilli) with L. fasciolatus.

Distribution: not in Nepal (as claimed by KRAMER 1977) nor in Bhutan (as suggested by Lenz 2012).
