CommentSynonymy: Wallach et al. 2014: 681 listed this species as synonym of Lycodon subcinctus. 
EtymologyNamed for Alvin Seale (1871 – 1958), Stanford zoologist, ichthyologist, and explorer, who collected the type and several of the paratypes.
