Comment | RMNH 88 has been regarded as the type, but this specimen is referable to Lycophidion melanogaster and was probably not seen by PETERS. PETERS 1875 attribted the name to SCHLEGEL. Authorship is credited to PETERS according to GUIBÉ & ROUX-EXTÈVE 1972 and MEIRTE 1992 (after BAUER 1995). Leston & Hughes 1968 revived L. nigromaculatum from the synonymy of L. irroratum. |
