Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A species having the characters of the genus Vanzoia, but differing from V. klugei in having more numerous preanal pores (7 vs 3-5); escutcheon not involving shank, but large on abdomen; no porelike escutcheon scales following preanal pores (Smith et al. 1977: 199). |
Comment | South American Lygodactylus presumably resulted from a single trans-Atlantic dispersal event 29 Mya (Lanna et al. 2018). |
Etymology | Named after Ralph M. Wetzel, “in recognition of his pioneering efforts to open the Chaco Boreal of Paraguay to study of its modern vertebrate fauna”. |
