Comment | Typhlops albanalis has been considered as a synonym of T. ocularis (by HAHN 1980 and others) but considered as a valid species by V. Wallach (cited in McDiarmid et al. 1999). T. albanalis is probably not from Madagascar but a valid species (V. Wallach, pers. comm.). PYRON & WALLACH 2014 included it in Lemuriatyphlops based on 20 dorsal scale rows lacking reduction (Rendahl 1918). See PYRON & WALLACH 2014: 55 for a discussion. albanalis: Terra typica: “Cape Province, South Africa” (in error); probably from South Africa or Madagascar. |
