Type locality: "Mare aux Songes (He Maurice)" [Island of Mauritius, Indian Ocean].

Diagnosis 
Commentfossil species. Reports from Reunion are questionable (fide Blanc 1971 and Glaw, pers. comm.)

Typhlops cariei is a fossil species from Mauritius with essentially no generic-level characters so it should be placed in the genus occurring in that region, which is Madatyphlops (pers. comm. 2 Dec 2016).
