Comment | Type species: Mastigodryas danieli AMARAL 1935: 158 is the type species of the genus Mastigodryas AMARAL 1935 (1934 fide Smith 1963). Synonymy: Mastigodryas danieli has been considered as a synonym of M. boddaerti fide Smith 1963. Smith 1963 requested to suppress the name Mastigodryas and to use Dryadophis instead. Distribution: not in Ecuador fide Omar Torres-Carvajal, pers. comm., 8 Sep 2016. Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). |
Etymology | Named after Rev. Irmão Daniel, the collector (or donor) of the type. The genus name is derived from the Greek words mastigo, meaning "whip" and dryas, meaning "wood or tree nymph." |
