CommentType species: Mastigodryas danieli AMARAL 1935: 158 is the type species of the genus Mastigodryas AMARAL 1935.

Distribution: not in Ecuador fide Omar Torres-Carvajal, pers. comm., 8 Sep 2016.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyThe generic epithet is derived from the Greek words mastigo, meaning "whip" and dryas, meaning "wood or tree nymph."
