CommentType species: Meizodon regularis FISCHER 1856 is the type species of the genus Meizodon FISCHER 1856. 
EtymologyThe genus name is from Greek “meizon” = bigger and Greek “odous” = tooth, because their maxillar teeth get bigger from front to back. Meizodon is masculine in gender (Schätti 1985).
