Type locality: Mossamedes, Angola; “Benguella, Angola” fide FITZSIMONS 1943: 357.

Diagnosis 
CommentA. Günther in the Zoological Record (1867) lists this species with a question mark, Scapteira (?) reticulata, for unknown reasons. 
EtymologyNamed after the Latin reticulatus, meaning “made like a net”. In reference to the net-like dorsal pattern.
