Type locality: Kibwezi, Kenya.

Types: ZMUC R631585; Paratypes: (n=3) ZMUC R631586-87, 1 female and 1 male, data as for holotype. ZMUC R631588, a juvenile (possibly female), Ol Donyo Sambu, otherwise data as for holotype [moyeri] 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (bicoloratus). Dorsum with a broad, brown band from snout to tip of tail, extending down to the fourth lowest row of dorsals; three lower rows of dorsals and belly whitish. First pair of infralabials usually not in contact behind mental. Posterior pair of chin-shields not in contact. Fifth supralabial usually not in con- tact with parietal (Rasmussen 2002).

WALLACH (1991; unpubl. thesis) proposed that M. bicoloratus may be a synonym of M. boettgeri, which has been synonymized with M. vaillanti by RASMUSSEN (2002). 
EtymologyM. b. moyeri was named for David Moyer of Iringa, Tanzania in recognition of his contribution to the planning and carrying out of numerous field trips for teachers and students from ZMUC.
