CommentDistribution: Not listed by LeBreton 1999. Not listed by BROADLEY & POYNTON 1998 for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire). Not in East Africa (i.e. Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi fide S. Spawls, pers. comm., 28 June 2018).

Synonymy: Euprepes has been synonymized with Mabuya by BOULENGER (1887). BRYGOO 1985 listed Euprepes chaperi as a synonym of Riopa sundevalli following BOULENGER 1887. Monard 1940 also described a “Mabuia guineensis n. sp.” from Guinea-Bissau, but that may be a homonym of unclear status.
EtymologyNamed after the type locality. Euprepes chaperi was named after Maurice Armand Chaper (1834−1896), an engineer, geologist (he worked on the Panama Canal project) and a paleontologist. Mr. Chaper collected the types during travel made in February and March 1882 in the former French Protectorate of Côte d’Or (southeastern Ivory Coast).
