CommentThis species has been considered a synonym of Morelia spilota by KLUGE 1993, although he remarks that further study is required to to establish the status of this and other taxa among the spilota-complex.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Josef "Joe" Bredl (1948-2007), a German-born Australian herpetologist. He created the Edward River Crocodile Farm and was the proprietor ofRenmark Reptile Park, South Australia.
