Distribution	S Myanmar (= Burma) (including Tenasserim), S China, NW Malay Peninsula Type locality: "Bengale" (in error).

Comment	Type species: Emys berdmorei BLYTH 1859 is the type species of the genus Morenia GRAY 1870: 62 (non Morenia AMEGHINO 1886, a genus of fossil rodent) Habitat: freshwater (Rivers, swamps, tributaries)
Etymology	From lat. ocellus = diminuitive of oculus: eye; with ocellated patches.
