Distribution | Colombia (Vaupes), Venezuela (Neblina) Type locality: Colombia, Vaupes, Cano Monserero, a tributary of Caño Tí. The collection site is approximately 75 km WSW airline distance from Mitú, capitol of the Comisaria del Vaupés. |

Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A species of Neusticurus with irregular scales in the frontonasal-prefrontal region; large size; supraoculars single or divided; an external auditory meatus with deeply recessed tympanum; caudal crests discontinuous,firstsix whorlsof caudals with large keeled crest scales separated ventrolaterally by two rows of small scales, laterally by three rows of small scales, and dorsally by 2-6 rows of small scales; tail strongly compressed; canthus rostralis sharply angular; translucent disc in lower eyelid divided in to several vertical segments; no calcareous spinules on flounces of hemipenis; no enlarged tubercles on nape or body; a dorsolateral paired series of 8-10 squarish browns pots from nape to above vent, the series continuous to tip of tail (Dixon & Lamar 1981). |
