Poros preanais no macho. Poros femora is ausentes”.
Nothobachia, Calyptommatus and Scriptosaura share striking reduction of limbs, absence of eyelids and an external ear opening (Rodrigues 1991a, Pellegrino et al. 2001, Rodrigues and Santos 2008, Goicoechea et al. 2016).
The species is characterized by an extremely elongated body with reduced limbs, absence of eyelids and external ear opening, and fossorial and diurnal habits. N. ablephara does not show sexual dimorphism in color pattern, and only males present preanal pores, that produce a large amount of secretion, indicating that the chemical communication could be an important aspect of N. ablephara life history (Ramiro et al. 2019). |
