EtymologyNamed after Lieutenant Colonel Henry Homersham Godwin-Austen (1834-1923) English army topographer, geologist, surveyor, and ornithologist. He explored and surveyed the region ofthe Karakorum around K2 (formerly Mount Godwin-Austen) and wrote Birds ofA ssam (1870-1878).
