CommentSynonymy after PERRET 1973. Panaspis tristaoi (MONARD 1940) is an older name and nimbensis should therefore be a junior synonym (TRAPE et al. 2012). 
EtymologyNamed after Nunes Tristão, navigator of an exploration of Portuguese Guinea in 1446.

L. nimbense was named after the type locality on Mount Nimba. Note that the original spelling was “nimbensis” hence this is the correct name. See Perret 1975.
