Distribution	República Dominicana, southeastern coast. Type locality: 0.5 mi. N. Boca de Yuma (18.383, -68.609; 28 m).

Diagnosis	Diagnosis (hylonomus): A subspecies of D. curtissi characterized by small size (males to 80 mm snout-vent length, females to 72), low number of ventral scales and moderate number of midbody scales, low number of fourth toe lamellae, dorsum dark bronzy brown, patternless except for occasional individuals with posterior faint dots, nuchal lines absent, lateral band prominent only anteriorly, and chin and throat immaculate to having faint gray longitudinal lines. Etymology	Probably named after its habitat, from Greek hylo- (forest), and Greek nomos = usage, pasture, place for living, or Greek nomus (wanderer), in likely allusion to the relatively isolated range of this mesic, forest-dwelling species in eastern Hispaniola.
