Synonymy: from SCHOOLS & HEDGES 2024. 
EtymologyApparently named after the type locality, Palmiste, lie de la Tortue (island of turtles), from Greek emys = (freshwater) turtle. Columbus named the island for its shape that resembles a turtle shell viewed from the side.
