Diagnosis | Diagnosis (as Paralaudakia). Size relatively large; head and body de- pressed; olivaceous or bluish grey with yellow ocelli; vertebral enlarged scales smooth or feebly keeled; flanks with or without any enlarged mucronate scales; body scales very small; tail segment of two whorls; callous glands present in both sexes [BAIG et al. 2012]. Diagnosis (taftacinica): Body size large, head and body moderately depressed; grayish-black dorsally; a cutaneous fold on each side of the neck; a dorsolateral cutaneous fo ld on each side of the body with smooth scales; enlarged vertebral scales, weakly keeled; body scales small; no patch of enlarged mucronate scales on flanks; tail divided into two distinct segments, each composed of two whorls of scales. |
Comment | Synonymy: BAIG et al. 2012 placed Stellio caucasica triannulatus ANANJEVA & ATAJEV 1984 in the synonym of L. microlepis. Distribution: Not confirmed from Pakistan (KHAN, pers. comm.). Not listed by DAS 1996. See map in SMID et al. 2014 for distribution in Iran. |
Etymology | Named after its small scales; Greek micro-, micros = small + Gr. lepis = scale (Maggenti, 2005). |
