Diagnosis	Diagnosis (genus Parapistocalamus): “Maxillaire s'étendant en avant aussi loin que le palatin, portant seulement 2 dents à sillon antérieur. Dents mandibulaires petites. Tête non distincte du cou. Oeil plus petit que sa distance à la fente buccale, avec pupille ronde. Narine percée entre 2 nasales. Une seule préoculaire, en contact avec 12 nasale postérieure; une postoculaire. Corps cylindrique, écailles lisses en 15 séries longitudinales. Ventrales arrondies latéralement. Anale non divisée.
