TypesHolotype: IBSP (= IB) 26188, a 775 mm male (J.M. Guerra, 25 May 1966). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (n=54): Rostral proeminente; temporais 0 + 1, 5 supralabial em contato com parietal; ventrais > 181 em machos e > 195 em fêmeas. Coloração dorsal com uma faixa lateral escura larga, ocupando três ou mais fileiras longitudinais de dorsais. Coloração ventral uniformemente clara, sem manchas; colares nucais claro e escuro evidentes. (FERRAREZZI 1993)

CommentP. lativittatus is characterized by a wide lateral dark stripe, containing three or more longitudinal dorsal scale rows, unmarked ventral surface, and evident clear and dark coloration of the nape. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin latus, wide, broad; spacious, extensive + Latin vittatus, wearing or carrying a ritual vitta. (FERRAREZZI 1993, Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
