DiagnosisDiagnosis: Rostral muito proeminente; temporais 0+ 1, 5° supralabial em contato com a parietal; rostral extremamente desenvolvida e em contato com a préfrontal. Frontal extremamente larga e uma faixa lateral preta larga, contínua, com manchas ventrais escuras, laterais grandes e irregulares; cabeça preta dorsoventralmente; colares nucais indistintos; uma linha preta vertebral fina. CommentP. nigrilatus is characterized by a more melanistic colouration with a wide lateral black stripe continuous with the dark marks on the lateral ventral surface, absence of nuchal colars and differences in head scutelation.

This species is known from only 3 specimens. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin nigrum, black, dark and Latin latus, side; flank. [“...uma faixa lateral preta, larga... »]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
