Comment | Conservation: Probably extinct now (AUSTIN et al. 2004). The last speciment has been collected in 1917. Just six whole, alcohol-preserved specimens of Phelsuma edwardnewtoni exist in museums (AUSTIN et al. 2004). Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017).
