Diagnosis	DESCRIPTION: Size moderate (SVL in males to 117 mm, in females to 85 mm); dorsal caudal scales keeled and straight; ventral scales 10 in a transverse row and 33-35 in a longitudinal row; fourth toe subdigitallamellae 92 (combined counts for both fourth toes); femoral pores 44 (combined counts for both series); fifteenth caudal verticil with 41-43 scales. Dorsal ground color dull brown to chestnut-red, clouded with black (Bogue Is. material with little suffusion of black); beginning at occiput, a narrow, dirty yellow to greenish yellow (Bogue Is.) stripe to base of tail; 2-3 rows of dull yellow to dirty yellow-green (Bogue Is.) spots from shoulder to groin (forming stripes in young); lower row of dots may be greenish or blue (Bogue Is.) and much obscured; below ventralmost row of spots, chestnut-red ground color frequently replaced by olive; head and neck olive; eyelids with yellow rim (Bogue Is.); yellow or white subocular patch; loreal region mayor may not be pale blue; dorsal surface of tail frequently brilliant blue-green in young males (less so in females and older males); belly and lower side of thighs a mixture of white and shades of blue; throat frequently creamy gray, salmon, or rust, extending onto chest (which may be pale blue) and forelimbs (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 189).
