Diagnosis | DESCRIPTION: Size small (SVL in males to 52 mm, in females to 45 mm); caudal scales smooth and oblique; ventral scales 8 in a transverse row and 30-36 in a often dark mottling along sides of venter; dorsum (females) brown with variably bold ladder or striped middorsal pattern and variable buff to white flank stripe, edged above and below with rust; capable of metachrosis to virtually patternless green-brown or gray-brown; ventral yellow tends to be more extensive and brighter in females; dewlap white to dull gray-green with yellow to orange-red or mustard spot near (but not at) anterodistal edge, scales concolor with dewlap (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 204). |

Etymology | Named after "Frank" Alexander Wetmore (1886-1978), American ornithologist and avian paleontologist. He was a bird taxidermist at the Denver Museum of Natural History, Colorado (1909). |
