DistributionEcuador: Galapagos (Española)

Type locality: Española Island, Galapagos - Archipelago (Ecuador); “Gardner near Hood Island” fide Lanza 1973: 164.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: CAS 10935, adult female, collected by J. R. Slevin 1906
DiagnosisDiagnosis: This P. baurii differs from the nominal race in having a significantly
lower number of interorbital and midbody scales and, moreover, in having a significantly (Gardner near Hood) or perhaps significantly (Hood) lower number of scales across the snout and enlarged head scales. The supranasals are in contact more often (50%) than in the nominal race (10%). It differs from all the sufficiently known P . galapagensis populations in having a significantly lower number of scales across the snout, postmentals, enlarged head scales and ventral scales. For further comparisons with some populations of P. galapagensis and P. baurii baurii from Charles, see tables 3 and 4 (Lanza 1973).
Comment
EtymologyNamed after Luigi Gori, member of the" Gruppo Ricerche Scientifiche Tecniche Subacquee " of Florence, who was responsible for organizing Lanza’s expedition.
