Type locality: Argentina, Chubut, Las Pulgas, 50 km from Musters Lake, elevation 800 m [45° 26’ S, 69° 38’ W]

Diagnosis 
CommentDiet: herbivorous

This species belongs to the patagonicus group (fide LOBO et al. 2010) or the indistinctus group (MORANDO et al. 2013).

Distribution: for a map of the indistinctus group see MORANDO et al. 2013. Not listed for Argentina by Avila et al. 2013, Zootaxa 3616 (3): 201–238 (although the latter lists patagonicus). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin indistinctus, not separated; indistinct [“...The homeomorphism of this austral Phymaturus is really remarkable...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
